At Collaboration Station, our vision is to stop the cycle of individual and intergenerational dependence on public benefits. We are a 501c3 grassroots nonprofit organization that prepares low-income populations for self-sufficiency through self-employment training and vocational activities that meet their individual and family needs.
Our primary goal is to show how a social service approach to entrepreneurship can be used as a tool to end poverty. Our approach is simple: teach one how to fish and if she or he wants to do the work--with the right tools & support--she or he will fish for themselves. In this way we show individuals how to successfully make the transition from reliance on public assistance to self-reliance and self sufficiency; thus preserving the family unit. For the people we serve, success is defined as the ability to pay daily living expenses on a consistent basis without sacrificing comfort, health or quality of life. Our programs are designed to tap into the self-determination of each individual to help make this possible.
